Do Not Run Aimlessly

In my journey of delving into scripture and immersing myself in the profound teachings of the Deep Work Retreat alongside a community of inspiring women, we explored a captivating study on self-discipline using John Maxwell's "21 Qualities of Leaders in the Bible." Amidst this exploration, revisiting the book of Corinthians, particularly 1 Corinthians 9:26, took on a profound significance:
"Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air."
Reflecting on my past, I realized that for many years, I had been running through life aimlessly, confusing busyness with productivity. The revelation struck a chord, prompting a shift in mindset. I began living with intentionality, setting daily goals known as my "Big 3" and establishing non-negotiables. While perfection remains elusive, the commitment to learning from mistakes and progressing forward with the guidance of God has become a cornerstone of my approach.
The study further led us through 1 Corinthians 10:1-13; 23-24, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and avoiding self-deception. It urged us to stand firm in our faith, resisting temptations even when we may feel justified. The passage underscores that while we have the freedom to do anything, not everything is beneficial (23-24). Later, in 1 Corinthians, the message resonates:
"Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the Glory of God."
Today, I challenge myself to pause before any action, be it eating, drinking, or indulging, asking a fundamental question: am I acting with purpose, aligning my actions with the Glory of God? It's about consciously treating my body as a temple, mirroring the way Jesus walked among us during His time on earth.
