People know. People know when your words and actions are sincere.
I am in the process of memorizing this scripture, which encompasses writing it out every day in my letter to God. But today, it hit me. Empty words (and actions).
We must show love through actions that are sincere, not through empty words. - 1 John 3:18
Have you ever spoken to someone, either in a meeting, on the phone, just bumping into them in the store, and you just know the words they are speaking aren't sincere? That they are either just going through the motions, saying something that you know they don't mean, or just really want to get away from you? They give you a compliment just to make themselves look good in front of others, but they don't really mean it?
Have you ever received a note or a card that you know they just sent it to check off a box? A stamped signature, a rote thank you note, a ploy for getting something in return?
People know when your words come from the heart, when you have taken the time to truly care about what you say, what you write, and what you do. When you are genuine, truly value people, and care deeply, PEOPLE KNOW.
Don't just go through the actions today. Don't let your words be empty. Value those you come in contact with today. Send a card with a well-thought-out note. Greet someone and truly dive into them, show them you love them. It takes effort, but people know.
