Simple Steps, Not Always Easy

Often, I sit down to be with God, and it is so BUSY! In my mind, that is! I am all over the place and find myself going down rabbit holes of "tasks" instead of listening to Him!

Anyone else have this trouble, or is it just me?

This morning in particular, I was struggling with this. I couldn't stop my mind from going in different directions.  I was led to this reading, which gave some significant steps, so I thought I would share a summary of the steps:

  1. Sit down and stay quiet.

  2. Start with a short opening prayer. Ask God to cleanse your mind and open your heart.

  3. Read a portion of scripture. Not quickly or too much.

  4. Meditate on the verse. Repeat what God is saying in your mind. (Say it out loud)

  5. Write down what you learn.

  6. Pray and have a conversation with God about what He said to you.

These steps were harder than it sounds because my mind was so busy - BUT, it gave me something to follow. And, in times when I am "busy" in my head, I need a process. This one helped. I hope it helps you too...

Have a calm and blessed day!
