Speak Up, or Forever Hold Your Peace?

Have you ever heard the saying, "Speak up or forever hold your peace?" I have actually said that sentence so many times. But, what is the result of staying quiet?

This morning, the word I was studying in the Bible was "accountable." I looked up the word for an entirely different thought process than what appeared to me in the first three scriptures it referenced in my Bible Concordance. I guess I was being led to look at my accountability differently.

The first three scriptures the concordance took me to were Ezekial 3:18, 3:20 and 33:6. What they talked about was what happens when we see things that aren't right and just turn the other way, and we don't speak up. I remember one of the questions my son was asked when interviewing for his firefighter position was, "What would you do if you saw one of your co-workers stealing?" (Or a question somewhat like that, I probably don't remember the exact words.). Do you look the other way? Do you speak up? Do you sit on your hands? Are you bold enough to do what is right?

That is such a tough question. Speak up, or forever hold your peace. Keep the peace and let things just happen around you, or take action? As the words of Ezekiel taught me today, when I turn a blind eye, I am no better than the sinner.

As I prepare to see the movie Sound of Freedom for the second time today, and bring with me 14 other people to see it, it reminds me of how we are all accountable. Accountable to stop the trafficking of children and even adults. How we are accountable to speak up when we see/know someone that is a "consumer" of these children. How we need to stand up for what is right. Our accountability doesn't end there. There are so many areas in our world that need us to speak up and be held accountable.

I challenge you today. Speak up! When you see something that isn't right, don't sit on your hands. Take a stand. Be bold. Change YOUR world. Don't be a bystander. We can transform our world to have positive values and actions. Join a Transformation Tables Group (they are FREE!). Find your words. (AND, go see Sound of Freedom!)

If you would like a TICKET TO SEE SOUND OF FREEDOM or a copy of any of the devotionals or books I reference, please send me an email (button below) and I would be happy to send you one.
